Far from being 188bet dispirited by their narrow and unlucky loss to France, Australia are in good spirits and is focused on defeating Denmark when the two teams meet on Thursday, captain Mile Jedinak says.
A win would put Australia in with a real chance of qualifying for the second phase. A draw would keep them alive, but needing to beat Peru in the last fixture and rely on other results. And a defeat would see them eliminated.
"This is the time we need to step up and get the results that we want," Jedinak says.
"I think we have to look at the positives from the France match. We were doing what was asked of us, doing it for substantial periods of the game.
"That's the fine margins in football, that's why we all love it and follow it.
"But those things can happen, we have to put this one behind us now and look forward to the game coming up.
"I think everyone knows what's at stake. No one is kidding themselves – we've had moments and played our first game, everyone knows what the atmosphere is going to be like, you get a feeling and sense for that.
"Its a game obviously where you have to get a result, but you have got to control the emotion and stick to what's been asked of you and not stray away from too much."
The team came through the France game in good shape.
"We had couple of recovery sessions ... its just about making sure you are preparing and doing the right things," Jedinak said as the team prepared for the Denmark test.
"There are no injuries, not that I am aware of – a few bumps and bruises, but the boys seem OK.
"Morale is OK, I think the key thing I mentioned to the boys was you shouldn't be disappointed because we gave very good account of selves and pushed a French team who are tipped to go on and do big things right to the limit. I felt like we did [it] right throughout the game... it's a shame we came up short."
Denmark shapes as, if not a must win game, then a fixture Australia cannot lose, as that would spell elimination.
"I would like to think we do have to beat them," Jedinak says. "We can't lose the game, 188bet that goes without saying.
"They had positive result against Peru [a 1-0 win] and it was a pretty close encounter in the end.
"We are definitely going to have to try to win the game."
The dynamics of this fixture are different. Against France, coach Bert van Marwijk could set up defensively and hope to contain his opponent.
This time around the Socceroos have to nullify Denmark – and also make something happen themselves.
They also have to be particularly mindful of the impact Denmark's star player, Christian Eriksen, can have.
"They've got individuals all over the park. He's had a fantastic season at club level and for his national team," Jedinak says.
"But we have to worry about us and how we are going to do things and not really focus too much on individuals.
"Denmark as collective is the team to beat – we will be doing our homework and our structure and game plan will be on that.
"Yesterday is yesterday, the game is gone, and now we have to look forward to Denmark on Thursday. " 188bet
